Dr. Eric Wei, Dr. Sudheer Jain, Michelle Lewis, and Dr. Sewit Teckie, known for their commitment to health care access, were nominated by peers and acquaintances and selected by Crain’s editors based on their achievements and contributions.
Dr. Eric Wei serves as CEO for NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine, and an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Notably, he founded the Helping Healers Heal (H3) Program, reaching over 100,000 healthcare workers worldwide. His efforts have led to his inclusion in Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives.
Michelle Lewis, CEO of Gotham Health, has over 20 years of experience in healthcare. She played a pivotal role in developing three advanced ambulatory sites in the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn and brought essential clinical services like dermatology and advanced radiology offerings to under-resourced communities. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehman College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Dr. Sewit Teckie is the System Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Affairs and Business Strategy at NYC Health + Hospitals. She has been instrumental in critical oncology upgrades and streamlining patient access to cancer care. Dr. Teckie, originally from Eritrea, brings a global perspective to healthcare leadership. She holds degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, completed her residency at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, and earned an executive MBA from Columbia University.
Dr. Sudheer Jain serves as the Chief of Service for the Department of Anesthesiology at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. He is actively engaged in hospital administration, including credentialing, risk management, quality improvement, and peer review. He is board-certified in Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Jain is also a member of the Academy of Anesthesiology.
