High-Speed Chase in Garner, N.C. Ends in Two Arrests
A woman and a man were arrested following a high-speed chase in Garner, North Carolina, linked to an apartment burglary on Tuesday night, according to the Garner Police Department.
The burglary was reported at 9 p.m. at an apartment complex located at 437 Hillgrove Lane, situated just off White Oak Lane south of U.S. 70 near Interstate 40. The suspects allegedly broke into an apartment, stole items and assaulted a person during the incident.
Upon police arrival, the suspects were seen departing the scene in a black 1999 Mercedes Benz sedan. This triggered a high-speed chase involving the Garner police that reportedly reached speeds above 100 mph.
The chase took the suspects from White Oak Lane to Jones Sausage Road before they entered I-40 heading west toward downtown Raleigh. The driver briefly exited I-40 downtown before getting back on the interstate, according to Garner Police Capt. Chris Adams.
The Mercedes finally came to a halt on westbound I-40 near South Saunders Street, at mile marker 298. The suspects fled the car but were quickly apprehended by officers. The Mercedes is now in police custody.
The investigation into the burglary and assault is ongoing. Further details are yet to be released.
