The Storm Prediction Center has put the area under a Slight Risk for severe weather on Monday, which could include damaging winds, hail, and a possible isolated tornado. Severe Weather Alert: Thunderstorms Expected Monday and Tuesday
Early this week is predicted to witness an active weather pattern with potential for strong to severe thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday. Meteorologist Daniel Johnson warns of severe weather conditions that will affect various regions. The day’s high was notably pleasant at 75, with a morning low temperature at 58. The range is now between low 60s in southern Indiana to low 70s in town.
Severe weather is being tracked heading into Monday and Tuesday with several severe alerts issued. While majority of Monday will be calm with a few showers, severe storms are expected to occur after 4:00 PM. These storms could be strong to severe, particularly north of the metro where there’s a chance for an isolated tornado. Tuesday presents a different story with more widespread thunderstorm activity that will impact most of the viewing area. Multiple rounds of severe storms are likely on Tuesday, early in the morning and later in the afternoon and evening, which could potentially include an isolated tornado and damaging winds.
As of now, the radar is quiet, and a warm front to our north has been hanging there for the past couple of days. However, low pressure to our west is getting closer and will eventually increase the chance for severe weather. Tonight, there may be an isolated shower with most of us experiencing low 60s to mid 60s temperatures.
For Monday, scattered showers will be off and on throughout the day with severe weather probably happening late in the day. Temperatures will climb well into the 70s. The location of the warm front will largely dictate the day’s weather, affecting temperatures and the severity of the storms. By Tuesday morning, widespread showers and storms are expected with another round heading into Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The unusual weather continues with near 80 degrees on April 1st, dropping to the 40s on Wednesday and Thursday. There may even be a few snow flurries or snow showers Wednesday night into Thursday. As we move into April, it’s time to move on from the cold weather.
