UPS Driver Fatally Shot in Irvine, Suspect Apprehended

A UPS driver was tragically killed after being shot multiple times in his truck in Irvine, as confirmed by Irvine Police Department. The law enforcement received a distress call just past 3 p.m. about a shooting incident near Chrysler and Bendix, involving a UPS truck.

NewsChopper4’s aerial footage displayed the UPS truck parked along a street, cordoned off by police tape. The UPS driver was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses provided a description of a suspect vehicle, leading to the discovery of a matching pickup truck located on State Route 261 and Santiago Canyon Road. The driver refused to surrender and had barricaded himself inside.

Law enforcement resorted to deploying gas and a K-9 following unsuccessful attempts to persuade the suspected shooter. The suspect was placed under custody at about 6:30 p.m. However, his identity has not been disclosed.

While the motive for the shooting remains uncertain, and the events leading up to it are still under investigation, the police have ruled out robbery as nothing was missing from the UPS truck.
