VA San Diego Celebrates Patient Experience Week with Daily Themed Activities

In 2025, VA San Diego Healthcare System proudly took part in the Patient Experience (PX) Week, a nationwide event acknowledged in VA hospitals. The week served as an occasion to show gratitude to Veterans for their service and express appreciation to employees for their dedicated care. The theme was “Own the Experience: Your Actions Make Experiences,” emphasizing VA San Diego’s dedication to a high reliability culture while offering top-quality care to Veterans.

Each day of the week was marked with a unique theme and various activities. Monday celebrated the VA’s National Day of Thanks. Executives and leaders welcomed patients and employees with gratitude cards. The subsequent day, Technology Tuesday, saw a Technology, Innovation, and Resource Fair where leading industry tools and technologies were showcased.

Wednesday, dubbed Voice of the Veteran day, centered on a “Your Voice Matters” campaign, enlightening Veterans on patient satisfaction surveys, their importance and how they are utilized for improvement. It was reported that 96.8% of Veterans trusted VA San Diego with their healthcare needs, the highest score among 38 VHA’s with top complexity ratings.

On Thriving Thursday, a Whole Health Wellness Fair was held and saw participation from over 450 Veterans and employees who learned about various self-care tools and resources. The week concluded on Friday with a theme of Celebrating Employee Excellence. An Employee Recognition Ceremony was conducted to honor employees who embody the VA core values and are committed to providing top-tier health care to Veterans.
