Zydus Lifesciences Ventures into US Market with Gadolinium Based MRI Injectable Contrast Agents
Global healthcare company Zydus Lifesciences Ltd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Zydus Lifesciences Global FZE, has announced an exclusive licensing and supply agreement with Viwit Pharmaceuticals. This partnership will facilitate the entry of gadobutrol injection (a generic version of GADAVISTTM) and gadoterate meglumine injection (a generic version of DOTAREM®) into the US market.
According to the agreement, Viwit will manage the ANDA submission, manufacturing, and supply of the generic versions of these products post-requisite regulatory approval. Zydus will be solely responsible for their marketing, distribution, and sale in the US market. These Gadolinium-based MRI contrast agents will be Zydus’ first injectable portfolio for the US market.
The market opportunity for gadobutrol injection is anticipated to be $120 million, with gadoterate meglumine injection estimated at $117 million in the US market (As per IQVIA MAT Jul – 2024).
