Madison, Indiana’s New Health and Fitness Initiative

Madison Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce the inception of their new Adult Wellness Program, kicking off in November 2024. This program comes with a promise to promote better health and fitness among the community members. It is a comprehensive health initiative offering a wide range of classes and activities designed to accommodate all fitness levels.

Range of Fitness Classes and Activities

The Adult Wellness Program will be offering options for everyone from Pilates, Functional Strength Training, Low-Intensity Aerobics to Tai Chi classes. The program is designed to cater to your fitness needs, whether you are an older adult with limited mobility or an active, fit participant looking for a challenge.

Beyond fitness classes, the program will also conduct monthly workshops touching upon topics like nutrition, goal setting, cooking demonstrations, and more. Starting January 2025, guest instructors will come onboard to introduce participants to new fitness routines. The program will also facilitate walking and running groups for those interested in training for local races.

Championing Health and Wellness in Madison

Whitney Burdzilauskas, Madison Parks and Recreation Athletic Program Manager, spoke excitedly of the program, “Our team is constantly brainstorming new and innovative ideas to keep Madison on the go! With my experience in fitness, coaching, and personal training, I am eager to share my knowledge with our local community. The new program is set to utilize both land and water, taking advantage of the many park facilities. These initial ideas are just the start of Madison’s long-term health and wellness goals.”

How to Get Involved

Classes can be attended on a drop-in basis for $5 per session. Discounted packages are available for 10 or 20 classes, with a yearly pass that also includes water aerobics programming. Class schedules will be available in a monthly calendar posted on the Madison Parks and Recreation website and social media, as well as distributed at Brown Gym, the Senior Center, and City Hall.
