Polar Introduces Screen-Free, Subscription-Free Fitness Band

The fitness hardware brand, Polar, is offering a new subscription-free fitness band, the Polar Loop, which doesn’t require a screen to access its features.

Unveiling the Polar Loop

The Finnish-based company unveiled the Polar Loop on Sept. 3. The fitness band is equipped with features capable of tracking activity, sleep, and other health metrics. CEO Sander Werring, in a press release, spoke about the growing demand for more discreet, screenless experiences that fit seamlessly into everyday life.

Comparing with Whoop’s Fitness Band

According to a Bloomberg report, the Polar Loop is similar to the popular Whoop model, offering features like sensors to track workouts and provide insights about sleep and fitness habits. However, unlike Whoop, which requires a subscription, Polar is charging an upfront fee for the hardware, with no ongoing membership program.

Polar’s Foray into B2B Wearables

In the past, Polar has ventured into the world of \”B2B wearables\” with the launch of Polar 360, a platform aimed at improving employee health and productivity at businesses. As the wearable technology market expands, the demand for devices is evolving, opening opportunities and challenges in addressing the diverse needs of different sectors.

The Future of Wearable Tech

Zachary Robichaud, instructor at Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Retail Management, explains that \”Wearables represent one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing segments of the tech and consumer products industry.\” Advances in technology, increased consumer demand for health and fitness monitoring, and expanding applications in workplace productivity are driving the wearable market’s growth.

The Role of AI in Fitness Bands
