Trump’s Approval Rating Drops Amid Rising Concerns, Poll Finds
President Donald Trump’s approval rating is declining due to fears of political violence and rising costs, as per a new poll. According to an Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, only 39% of participants approved of Trump’s job performance.
A critical warning for the president’s policy approach is that the percentage of Americans who believe that the country is on the wrong track has increased by 13 points since June, reaching 75%.
The shift is primarily among Republicans, with 51% now believing the country is veering off course, up from 29% in June. Democrats have consistently believed the country is heading in the wrong direction since Trump re-entered the White House.
Differences in age and gender were observed among Republican respondents. Those aged 45 and younger, and women, were more likely to claim the country is on the wrong track.
Approval of Trump’s handling of specific issues remains politically polarized. His highest ratings were in border security (55% approve) and crime (46% approve).
About 40% approved of his handling of health care, trade, the economy, Israel-Palestine conflict, foreign policy, and immigration. Approximately 60% said Trump had overstepped his authority with his tariff policy and the use of federal law enforcement in U.S. cities.
An overall dissatisfaction with the nation’s elected officials was also noted in the poll. Trump was viewed unfavorably by 54% of adults, with more than half of the respondents having unfavorable views of both the Democratic and Republican parties.
Vice President JD Vance’s approval rating was slightly more positive, with 46% viewing him unfavorably. However, his favorability stood at 32%, with 21% claiming insufficient knowledge to form an opinion.
The national poll was conducted from September 11 to 15, surveying 1,183 adults. The margin of error was 3.8%.
