TL/DR –

Hamas has declared it will dissolve its administration in Gaza as soon as a technocratic leadership committee takes over, as stipulated by a US-brokered plan. The Gaza militant group and the rival Palestinian Authority have not disclosed the names of the technocrats, who are not supposed to have political affiliations. The “Board of Peace”, an international entity overseen by US President Donald Trump, will supervise the transition, the disarmament of Hamas, the deployment of an international security force, as well as other elements of the truce that began on 10 October.

Hamas to Dissolve Current Administration in Gaza

Hamas declared its intention on Sunday to dissolve its present administration in Gaza. The decision will be implemented once a technocratic committee takes charge, as stipulated by the US-mediated plan for the enclave.

Neither the Gaza militant group nor the rival Palestinian Authority, globally recognized as the Palestinian representative, have yet announced the technocrats’ names. These individuals should possess no political connections, and their clearance by Israel and the US remains uncertain.

The government and truce factors like disarming Hamas, instating an international security force will be overseen by the “Board of Peace”, a global body spearheaded by President Donald Trump. The board members’ identities are yet to be disclosed.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Kassem stressed on the immediate formation of the technocratic committee in his Sunday Telegram post.

According to Trump, the “Board of Peace” will supervise the committee, handle Hamas’ disarmament, manage the international security force deployment, maintain further pullbacks of Israeli troops, and oversee Gaza’s reconstruction. The board members’ announcement is anticipated this week, despite minor progress reported by the US.

Concurrently, the post-ceasefire death toll in Gaza has escalated with three Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire, as per hospital reports.

The ceasefire commenced with a stop in combat and the release of hostages in Gaza in return for liberating thousands of Palestinians detained by Israel. The agreement is currently in the initial stage as efforts to retrieve the remains of the last hostage in Gaza continue.

An anonymous Egyptian official discussed ongoing talks with a Hamas delegation, Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish officials to proceed to the next phase. The official mentioned that Hamas would hold discussions with other Palestinian factions this week to finalize the committee’s formation, led by chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya.
