Grand Rapids, MI police have publicized the names of the suspect and victim involved in a fatal stabbing incident last Thursday night on the Southeast Side of the city. Robert Marion, aged 67, from Grand Rapids, was charged with open murder in the 61st District Court on Saturday morning, as reported by the Grand Rapids Police Department. The charge is related to the stabbing death of Esther Claxton on October 26.

The Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office officially declared Claxton’s death a homicide. Marion and Claxton, who were in a longstanding domestic relationship, are believed to have had an argument leading to the fatal stabbing.

On October 26, just after 7:30 p.m., Grand Rapids Police Department officers responded to a stabbing report at a residence located on the 900 block of Oakhill Street SE, between Eastern and Kalamazoo avenues. Upon arrival, they found a woman, later revealed as Claxton, 58, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
