A decade ago, an aspiring football player in the DMV area would transform into a commanding force upon hearing a single word. That word, ‘Roger’, would evoke fond memories of Cam Goode’s early days in football.

“You know how you give a dog a command?” Coach Fatz Moore of Fatzbulliez Bulldogs youth football elucidated. “If I say ‘roger,’ things are about to get intense on the field.”

Cam Goode, with his robust 6-foot-1, 314 pound frame, played various positions in his early years. The term ‘Roger’ was originally a signal for him to blitz the right side as a linebacker, which eventually became his rallying call.

These early experiences marked the beginning of Goode’s pursuit of greatness. He dreams of making his mark in the NFL. One of his earliest nicknames, ‘All world,’ is derived from his versatility on the field.

Although his football allegiances have varied over the years, he has remained spirited throughout. Apart from football, he has an affinity for rapping, giving him another of his many monikers, ‘DJ Cam Bam.’

Goode’s unique blend of talent and charisma caught the attention of significant figures in football. At the 2018 Under Armour All-American game, Deion Sanders appointed him as a captain and told him, “Cam, you’re destined to make the NFL.”

Goode plays not just for himself, but also for his family and his community in Washington D.C. He’s seen firsthand the impact of violence and is resolved to make things easier for children in his community.

“To prepare myself mentally, I reflect on the lives of some friends I lost due to gun violence and the love and power they gave me,” Cam revealed.

Cam’s aspirations extend beyond just his career; he’s striving to uplift his community as well. He’s remembered for his positive influence in his community. As Quinten Johnson, his high school teammate, said, “A lot of kids look up to Cam, he kind of helped pave the way for football in the city. … Cam was one of the pillars of that new generation of guys on the field that are actually leading by example.”

Goode’s mother, Inga, recalls a moment when Cam, playing against older kids at 10 or 11 years old, tackled an opposing wide receiver so hard it left the whole stadium in shock. ‘Big Cam’ was born.

His journey in football involved making tough choices. When it came time to choose a high school, Cam decided to go to St. John’s, thus paving his own path to greatness, instead of joining the renowned DeMatha Catholic team.

His decision paid off as he went undefeated against DeMatha during his career at St. John’s.

His father, Kevin, noted that even though he initially disagreed with Cam’s choice of school, he now sees it as a blessing.

Cam’s journey to greatness is an ongoing process. Through his YouTube channel, he has showcased his skills and gained a reputation in the football community. He continues to make strides in his career and aims to make a significant positive impact on and off the field.

Beyond the nicknames and accolades, Cam Goode is a football player on a mission: to make a lasting impact on his community, inspire future football generations, and create a legacy on his own terms.
