There’s something magical about a holiday wedding and MLB star Bobby Witt Jr emphasized it by tying the knot with Maggie Black, his long-time girlfriend and high school sweetheart, on December 14. This festive wedding took place at the famous Thompson Hotel in Dallas, Texas, and the guest list included the entire Royals team and prominent MLB figures like Andrew Benintendi, Cole Ragans, Whit Merrifield and Rusty Greer.

Personal Touches at the Witt Jr Wedding

Adding a unique and personal touch to their wedding, a replica of their favourite fast food chain, Whataburger, was set up at the venue. This classic Southern fast food joint has significant sentimental value as it was their go-to hangout spot after high school games. Notably, Witt Jr now serves as a brand ambassador for the chain. According to the New York Post, guests also sported “Let’s Get Witty” hats as they danced the night away. As Maggie Black told People, “Our goal was to throw the party of the year.”

With a degree in health and exercise science, and a personal trainer certification from the American College of Sports Medicine, she’s well equipped for her profession. On Instagram, she shares content about health and wellness, often promoting the lifestyle brand 1st Phorm and the Kate Hudson-founded activewear company, Fabletics. In 2022, she also took on the role of a performance coach with APE Fitness & Performance.

During her time at Colleyville Heritage High School, Black was a softball player. She continued her passion for the sport at Northwestern State University, where she showcased her skills in the third base and shortstop positions. Her excellence on the field led to her being named on the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Spring Honour Roll every year from 2019 to 2022. Interestingly, her brother Ryon also has an athletic background, having played American football at the Missouri Southern State University.
