Exciting Crate Stacking Challenge at the Student Fitness Center

The Crate Stacking Event at Illinois State University

The Illinois State University’s Campus Recreation recently held a fun-filled crate stacking event at the Student Fitness Center’s rock climbing wall. The event took place from 4-6 p.m. last Tuesday and was a hit among the students.

World Record for Crate Stacking

The world record for the number of stacked crates is currently held by Christof Riesenhuber, who stacked an impressive total of 49 crates back in 2009. However, this record remained untouched at the Illinois University event.

Students’ Attempt at the Crate Stacking Challenge

Two brave students, juniors Diamond Gallardo and Amelia Dibuono, stepped up to take on the crate stacking challenge. Dibuono kicked off the event, successfully stacking seven crates. Gallardo then took his turn, achieving a high score of 13 crates stacked.

Gallardo shared the excitement and fear of standing atop 13 crates in the air. “When I was 30 feet in the air, I was scared and shaking. I doubted if I could do it. But the supportive staff encouraged me to keep going, which made me feel better,” Gallardo said.

Student Fitness Center staff members Tyson Jorgenson and Wesley Lebron, both new from last semester, were working at the event for the first time. They had previously participated as attendees and looked forward to hosting more events at the climbing wall and attracting more students in the future.

Juniors Amelia Dibuono shared why she enjoys these interactive events. “Everyone is super welcoming, and it encourages you to get out of your comfort zone,” Dibuono said.
