You need to understand that everyone begins their health and fitness journey from somewhere, just like Heidi Somers, a fitness pro with millions of social media followers. She was once struggling with her own health and happiness, but thanks to her motivational outlook and accessible workouts, she managed to turn things around.

As a dedicated entrepreneur, Somers utilized her personal experience to inspire others to embark on their own fitness journeys. Somers constantly strives to improve herself, her community, and her brand, even over a decade after her transformative journey began.

Fitness Journey: From Struggle to Success

Somers’ story is one of transformation. She was unhappy and struggling with her health during her college days. Her journey towards fitness started with a fresh start, moving from her hometown in North Pole, Alaska, to pursue medical school in San Antonio, Texas. This major life change provided her the motivation she needed to turn her life around. It was here that she discovered her passion for CrossFit, even achieving success on the bodybuilding stage. She finished in the top 5 in her first NCP competition in 2014, and won the NPC Alaska Crystal Cup in 2015.

Despite her success, she remembers how difficult it was to start her fitness journey. She found it challenging to take advice from men and struggled with understanding gym culture and nutrition. Once she learned more and got into shape, she started sharing her experience and tips through social media.

Empowering Women Through Fitness and Fashion

As Somers became more comfortable with her body and grew her social media following, she began to listen to the needs of her audience. This led to the creation of her Buffbunny clothing line, designed with women’s needs in mind. She believes in learning from all types of people and applying that knowledge to her products.

Somers continues to be a massive CrossFit fan and understands the mental challenges that beginners face. She shares her tips to overcome these challenges, like using noise-canceling headphones to focus and participating in group classes for a sense of community.

In addition to her clothing line, Somers is developing a female-focused fitness app called Grounds. She believes in the importance of finding a supportive community when starting a fitness journey.
