Superior Healthcare in South Central Pennsylvania and Lehigh Valley

South central Pennsylvania and Lehigh Valley are home to some of the best healthcare institutions, as per the rankings by Newsweek and Statista Inc. These rankings were part of the “World’s Best Hospitals 2024” report that covered 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries, further broken down by states.

Top-Ranked Hospitals in Pennsylvania

In the state of Pennsylvania, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center secured the third position with a score of 89.08%, while Reading Hospital took the fifth spot with a score of 85.54%. Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital and Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest ranked seventh and ninth, respectively, with scores of 84.78% and 84.41%. St. Luke’s University Hospital came in at 15th with a score of 81.86%, and Pinnacle Health Hospitals, now part of UPMC, ranked 18th with a score of 80.39%.

Ranking Methodology

As stated by Newsweek, each hospital’s score is calculated based on an online survey involving over 85,000 medical professionals and public data from post-hospitalization patient satisfaction surveys. The score also considers factors like hygiene, patient-doctor ratio, and a Statista survey on Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), standardized questionnaires filled out by patients to assess their experience and results.
