Legitimate Police Response to Planet Fitness Shooting Incident

The justification of a police shooting at Planet Fitness, which resulted in the death of an employee, has been confirmed by the Attorney General’s Office. The incident began inside the gym where the first shot was fired by the employee, named Calvin Bishop. Subsequent interviews with witnesses, combined with video footage and forensic evidence, all led to the conclusion that the officer’s use of deadly force was warranted.

According to coworkers, Bishop had previously expressed feelings of battling inner demons. After firing the first shot inside Planet Fitness, he fled the scene, only to be stopped by police officers later on. Bishop refused to comply with officers’ commands to drop his weapon.
