Exploring Effective Weight Loss Methods with India Gants

Unlock the secret to successful weight loss with the help of India Gants, winner of Season 23 of “America’s Next Top Model”. Gants shares her weight loss journey that led her to lose 50 pounds, with what she describes as “very little effort”.

In a revealing TikTok video, Gants shares the “secret sauce” to her weight loss success. Three key lifestyle changes played a major role in her weight loss journey: quitting alcohol, eating more protein, and weightlifting.

The Impact of Quitting Alcohol on Weight Loss

Gants reveals that she didn’t initially aim for weight loss. Rather, it was a side effect of her decision to quit drinking alcohol. In a discussion with Fox News Digital, Gants shares how becoming sober played a “major role” in her weight loss journey. This ultimately led to the launch of her podcast, “The Sober Scoop”, to help others navigate sobriety.

“Alcohol is a class 1 carcinogen, it slows our metabolism, it affects our brain health and it destroys our internal organs. Since getting sober, I’ve learned so much about the negative effects of alcohol, and I have no interest in drinking ever again,” she shares.

Apart from the physical benefits, Gants credits her sobriety with making her happier, more confident, and more successful. She also encourages others to seek sober activities that bring joy.

Increased Protein Intake for Weight Loss

Gants also notes the importance of adding more protein to her diet. According to Gants, increasing your protein intake is easier than avoiding certain foods altogether. She shares, “For me personally, wrapping my head around eating more of something is so much easier than saying, ‘I’m not eating carbs, I’m not eating sugar.’”

In addition to allowing herself the occasional sweet treat and bread, Gants found that increasing her protein intake felt like a “magic potion”. Protein plays a crucial role in promoting satiety, which helps you feel fuller for longer, while also supporting muscle building.

The Role of Weightlifting in Weight Loss

For the physical fitness aspect of her weight loss journey, Gants turned to weightlifting. She describes strength training as a “life hack to fitness”. She adds, “Weightlifting is truly life-changing. You have never seen your body as good as it can look until you’ve tried weightlifting.”

Gants emphasizes that effective weightlifting doesn’t necessitate extensive gym sessions. Simply dedicating 15 to 30 minutes, three days per week to weightlifting led to significant changes in her body composition. “Also, strength is tied to longevity, so it’s just good for you in general,” she adds.

A Balanced Diet and Regular Exercise for Weight Loss

Dr. Peter Balazs, a hormone and weight loss specialist in New Jersey, speaks to Fox News Digital about Gants’ weight loss routine. According to Dr. Balazs, alcohol consumption actively opposes weight loss by adding empty calories, slowing down fat burning, encouraging fat storage, and increasing appetite.

Dr. Balazs also emphasizes that lasting weight loss occurs through sustaining a calorie deficit, which can be facilitated by a high-protein diet. Furthermore, weightlifting ensures that the weight lost is fat and not muscle, reducing cortisol levels – the stress hormone and the biggest enemy of weight loss.

Joining the conversation, Dr. Sarah Towne, a family medicine physician with PlushCare, emphasizes the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise for weight management. “When it comes to sustainable weight management, whole foods and lean proteins are crucial,” she advises, “Combination exercise, including both weight-bearing and cardio activity, is great.”
