Uncover Hidden Health Facts Your Fitness Watch Misses

Embracing Fitness in Your Life

Fitness can play a significant role in your life. Just like it did for one individual who moved to the UAE, seven years ago. Upon arrival, they quickly experienced the infamous “Dubai Stone” weight gain. A new friend provided guidance to embark on a fitness journey.

Maintaining Multiple Gym Memberships

Within months, they maintained two gym memberships and a ClassPass subscription. Regular workouts became a part of their daily routine. Additionally, they explored methods to burn extra calories. They started intermittent fasting and began consuming apple cider vinegar shots before meals.

Regaining Confidence Through Fitness

For the first time in years, or possibly ever, they felt empowered. They had previously avoided physical education, feeling self-conscious about their lack of speed and coordination. After major spinal surgery in their early twenties, they lost confidence in their body’s abilities. However, the newfound strength and capability from their fitness journey gave them a drive that extended beyond merely reducing clothing sizes.

Balancing Fitness and Daily Commitments

In the following years, health and well-being integrated naturally into their routine. Healthy eating, self-care, and fitness conveniently fit between their career and social commitments. Although life sometimes required adjustments, the overall balance remained.

Adapting to Life Changes

However, all sense of routine disrupted when the Iran war began. Like many others, their weeks were consumed by work. Even when life returned to relative normality, they chose to stay mostly at home. Their daily routine was compromised to prioritize comfort and productivity, effectively disrupting their plans.

Returning to Fitness

They decided to participate in the Camino de Santiago walk again, inviting their mother and sister to join. After completing their first camino the previous year, they invested in a fitness watch. They started tracking fitness metrics like fitness age and VO2 max – the maximum amount of oxygen your body can consume during intense exercise.

Life’s Challenges and Fitness

Despite the physical and financial challenges they endured, including rising air fares and expensive train travels, they remained committed to their fitness journey. However, they realized the importance of rest and recovery when they found themselves in the hospital due to a back injury. This served as a reminder that fitness is not just about achieving arbitrary metrics, but about being fit and healthy enough to go through everyday life with ease.
