Whoop Enhances Fitness Tracker with Clinical Consultations

Whoop Advances in Fitness Tracking with AI Driven Features

The fitness tracking industry giant, Whoop, has unveiled a new roster of health and AI-driven features, taking a significant leap forward in the tech-health sector.

Whoop Enters Clinical Health Space

With a recent announcement on Friday (May 8), Whoop has officially entered the clinical health space. A primary feature includes live, on-demand consultations with licensed clinicians, set to roll out this summer. Unlike traditional healthcare experiences, these consultations offer a comprehensive understanding of the member’s health. This is achieved through continuous data tracking and, when available, bloodwork and medical history.

Health Record Integration and Whoop Membership Value

Further enhancing its service portfolio, Whoop has now introduced electronic health record (EHR) syncing. Collaborating with HealthEx, members can securely access their clinical history, such as diagnoses, medications, and procedures, all within the app. As stated by Ed Baker, Whoop’s Chief Product Officer, they are constantly striving to deliver more value to their members and these features significantly contribute to that goal.

Artificial Intelligence Advancements: My Memory and Proactive Check-Ins

Besides the medical consultations, Whoop is also launching two Artificial Intelligence-based features: My Memory and Proactive Check-Ins. My Memory provides members with a centralized place to manage the AI layer and personalized coaching. With this, members can add, edit, or delete personal context, ensuring that insights reflect real-world circumstances and evolving goals. The Proactive Check-Ins feature uses these memories to provide personalized recommendations, such as prioritizing sleep ahead of critical events or adjusting training based on travel.

Application of AI in Wearables and Nutrition Tracking

The integration of AI in wearables is not just limited to fitness tracking. PYMNTS recently highlighted AI-related advancements in wearables that aid in meal tracking as well. According to a Feed.fm report, platforms that combine workout data, recovery, and nutrition outperformed single-metric tools in user retention last year. Analysts identified nutrition as a significant gap that these platforms need to address by 2026.

Expanded Use of AI-Assisted Health Tools

The consumer appetite for AI-assisted health tools is expanding alongside technological advancement. PYMNTS Intelligence research found nearly a quarter of American consumers said they’d permit an AI agent to manage their health and wellness information.
