Zeller Family Donates $500K to Elon’s HealthEU Center

Addressing Unique Health Challenges of Today’s Youth

Scott and Jeannine Zeller, parents from Stratham, New Hampshire, acknowledge the importance of the health and wellness of modern college students. They have noticed the effects of a sedentary lifestyle, social media pressure, and the accessibility of processed foods on student health.

With this in mind, they have decided to donate $500,000 to the HealthEU Center at Elon. This center is a comprehensive health and wellness hub that supports students, faculty, and staff.

“Today’s young adults face distinct health challenges. We appreciate Elon’s understanding that all aspects of health are interconnected and should be addressed in one place,” Scott Zeller expressed.

Deep Trust in Elon’s Leadership and Vision

The Zellers’ decision to support the HealthEU Center reflects their trust in Elon’s leadership. They have witnessed the university’s administration in action while their son, Luke Zeller ’25, was enrolled and have developed a deep respect for President Book and the Trustees’ vision.

They are thankful for the quality of education and support their son received at Elon. “Elon’s staff have demonstrated extreme dedication to educating and supporting the student body. We are confident that Elon equips its students to succeed in a competitive world,” Scott said.

The Impact of the Zeller Family’s Contribution

The Zellers’ generous donation will support the HealthEU Center’s goal of raising $25 million. So far, a total of $21.6 million has been raised. The center, set to open in 2026, will house academic, wellness, counseling, campus recreation, and fitness programs, all aimed at supporting student success.

Furthermore, their gift will create the Zeller Family Odyssey Program Scholarship, which will provide financial assistance to high-need students, including first-generation college students.

John Gardner ’01, senior director of development, acknowledged the Zeller family’s contribution, saying, “Elon is grateful to the Zeller family for recognizing the importance of supporting the HealthEU Center, which will give students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.”

About the HealthEU Center

The HealthEU Center is a core part of the university’s broader HealthEU initiative. It is designed to focus on six dimensions of health and wellness: community, emotional, purpose, financial, physical, and social. The center features classrooms, research spaces, fitness activities, and the Mark and Kim Tyson Counseling Center.

The center impacts every student by teaching essential skills and practices for thriving on campus and throughout life.
