Biden Throws Fresh Insults in Bid to Outdo Trump at his own Game

134

TL/DR –

President Joe Biden has been using insults and troll-like tactics in his campaign, most notably targeting former president Donald Trump. Biden has been using terms such as “loser” to describe Trump, and making jokes about controversial incidents from Trump’s presidency, like his suggestion to inject disinfectant as a COVID-19 treatment. This approach is part of a strategy to provoke Trump, yet it remains unclear if Biden’s attacks are making a significant impact, and whether his political brand of empathy and decency is appropriate for these tactics.

President Biden Targets Trump with Insults in Attempt to Stand Up to Former President

In Atlanta at Mary Mac’s Tea Room last Saturday, President Joe Biden dismissed polls showing potential election loss, and called his likely opponent, former President Donald Trump, a loser.

Biden uses these one-liners to target Trump, aiming to unnerve the former president and remind voters of his past mistakes.

Biden’s favorite insult, “loser,” references the 2020 election that Trump lost. Additionally, Biden often brings up Trump’s infamous suggestion to inject disinfectant as a COVID treatment, joking “Just inject bleach, I think that’s what he did. That’s why he’s so screwy.”

However, it’s debated whether Biden’s attacks are impactful and whether his image of empathy and decency aligns with these punchlines.

Some experts believe Biden’s insults might not hit as hard as Trump’s. Drew Westen, a professor at Emory University, suggests Biden’s approach may not provoke the same reaction as Trump’s style.

Other Jabs at Trump

In his speeches, Biden frequently jests at Trump, telling stories about a “man crushed by debt” and mocking Trump’s “God Bless the USA Bible.” He also jokes about the financial struggles of Trump’s social media site, Truth Social.

However, current polls still show Biden trailing Trump in key states and nationally.

Political historian William Bike suggests that the goal of Biden’s strategy is to show Democrats standing up to Republicans and hopefully provoke Trump into making damaging comments.
