TL/DR –

The Charles Koch network will no longer financially support former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s campaign in the Republican presidential primary, choosing instead to focus on key Senate and House races. Despite the decision to redirect funding, the network’s Americans for Prosperity Action group emphasized its continued support for Haley as a candidate. The Koch network’s decision comes amidst Haley’s struggle to become the leading alternative to former President Donald Trump, who remains the dominant frontrunner in the GOP primary.

Koch Network Redirects Support Away from Haley; Focuses on Key Senate and House Races

The billionaire Charles Koch-associated network withdraws financial support from former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and redirects efforts toward key Senate and House races, according to an email shared with CNN.

Emily Seidel, President and CEO of Americans for Prosperity, emphasizes the strategic redirection of resources to maximize goal achievement in the face of the South Carolina presidential primary and a heating Senate contest.

The Koch network’s endorsement in November boosted Haley’s Republican primary journey against former President Donald Trump. Despite this, Trump retains dominance after a strong victory in Haley’s home state.

Seidel claims AFP Action still endorses Haley, but will cease financial aid to her campaign, citing her continued fight and limited primary state opportunities.

Haley’s campaign spokesperson, Olivia Perez-Cubas, retorts that with over $1 million recently received from grassroots conservatives, Haley’s campaign remains strong.

The Koch network’s decision was initially reported by Politico, highlighting the network’s previous focus on the Senate, viewing it as the best resistance against Democratic control.

The network’s endorsement of Haley indicated a desire for a “new chapter” president, bypassing Trump. Seidel warns in her email of increasing voter rejection of Trump and negative Republican party impacts.

CNN’s Fredreka Schouten contributed to this report.
