Andre Nader: How Top Financial Books Helped Him Reach Seven-Figure Net Worth
How Andre Nader Built A Seven-Figure Net Worth Before Turning 40
Andre Nader, a successful financial independence writer, managed to amass a seven-figure net worth before the age of 40. The former tech employee from Meta has shared his favourite money-related books that have shaped his financial journey, including ‘The Simple Path to Wealth’.
Andre Nader’s Journey to Financial Independence
At the age of 37, Andre Nader has saved enough money that he does not foresee the need to work a regular job again. After 15 years of a career in tech, nine of which he spent at Meta, he was laid off in 2023. Instead of seeking new employment, he decided to focus on his Substack publication, FAANG FIRE, and transitioned into one-on-one financial coaching.
Achieving Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE)
Nader and his wife, a designer at Uber, had been diligently saving for their early retirement. Their combined tech income and savings allowed them to build a seven-figure nest egg, enough to maintain their family’s lifestyle in San Francisco without full-time employment. Although Nader is essentially retired in his 30s, he prefers to consider himself “semi-FIRE’d” until his wife also retires from her job.
Books That Changed Nader’s Money Mindset
Throughout his journey to financial independence, Nader read several books that significantly influenced his perspective on wealth. Here are three that he says helped him build his wealth:
“The Simple Path to Wealth” by JL Collins
JL Collins’ 2016 book is a favourite within the FIRE community. Collins simplifies the path to wealth through advice like investing in Vanguard’s Total Stock Market Index Fund. This resonated with Nader, who appreciated the straightforward approach after years in the complex world of tech.
“Die With Zero” by Bill Perkins
Another influential book for Nader was Bill Perkins’ “Die With Zero”, which encouraged him to make the most of his money by spending it on enriching life experiences.
“Enough” by Jack Bogle
When pursuing FIRE, Nader used the concept of “enough number” from Jack Bogle’s book “Enough”. This is the amount of money one needs to live comfortably without earning another dollar.
By late 2024, Nader’s “enough” number reached around $5.6 million, enough to cover his family’s annual expenses in San Francisco, healthcare and his daughter’s education.
