The City of Danville, has secured a $1 million grant from the Inflation Reduction Act and the USDA Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program. This funding is set to be invested in a new initiative called Community Roots: Danville’s Urban Reforestation and Revitalization Plan.

The program aims to enhance tree canopy coverage in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, develop maintenance plans, create a tree inventory map, and establish education programs that underline the importance of trees for community wellness, as stated in a news release.

Arbor Day Celebration in Danville

Furthermore, the City of Danville will host an Arbor Day celebration at the Danville Public Library on Saturday, October 19. This will be done in collaboration with Trees for Danville. The event will feature sapling giveaways, tree care guide distributions, tree planting demonstrations, and contests.
