FMO’s Business Development Officer Role: A Chance to Shape Sustainable Growth

Are you a dynamic, forward-thinking individual with a knack for private-equity investment and fundraising? FMO is looking for someone like you to join our team as a (Senior) Business Development Officer, a role pivotal to the growth of FMO’s private equity business. Your mission, working alongside the Partnerships for Impact (P4i) department, will be to identify potential funders and investors who can assist FMO in expanding its private equity portfolio. In this dynamic and innovative role, you will need to stay at the forefront of trends in blended finance and impact investing to discover new funding opportunities that align with FMO’s objectives.

Primary Responsibilities of Business Development Officer at FMO

  • Identifying and originating opportunities for blending public and private funding for FMO’s equity investments.
  • Designing structures for innovative investment mandates with the PE investment teams.
  • Building strong relationships with public and private impact investors.
  • Supporting FMO’s departments in implementing new private equity investment mandates.
  • Monitoring trends in blended finance and impact investing to leverage new opportunities.

Essential Qualifications for FMO’s Business Development Officer

  • A minimum of a MSc. degree in finance, economics, political science, or public administration.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in development finance or private equity.
  • Experience in program design, fund management, and/or blended finance.
  • A proven successful track record in investing and fundraising.
  • International experience and a strong understanding of global development frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
