New Laws Promote Clean Energy, Jobs, Wildlife Protection – Expert

TL/DR –

The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) were signed into one last year to reduce energy bills, transition to clean energy, strengthen infrastructure and create jobs. Clean energy powers 20% of the U.S. and its use is expected to increase as technology costs decrease. Transitioning to clean energy will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also mitigate the growing impact of climate change on humans and wildlife.

Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act: Clean Energy and Job Creation

Last year saw the merging of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into one legislation. This act aims for a transition to clean energy, lower energy bills, enhanced infrastructure, extreme weather mitigation, improved transportation, and the generation of millions of high-paying jobs.

Clean energy is currently supplying 20% of the U.S. energy needs. As costs for these technologies continue to drop, its prevalence is set to soar. The climate crisis effects – from escalating heat and storms to shifting ecosystems – pose risks to both humans and wildlife. Transitioning to clean energy will not just curb the greenhouse gas emissions causing this crisis, but also safeguard communities and wildlife from its increasing impacts.

The National Wildlife Federation’s Shannon Heyck-Williams appeared on the show today to provide additional insights on this topic.
