Pennsylvania Infrastructure Projects Benefit from Federal Funding
Billions in federal funds from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are transforming Pennsylvania’s landscape, supporting many large-scale projects.
Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., highlighted Pennsylvania’s multifaceted benefits from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, pointing to record investments in the state’s roads, bridges, water systems, and transportation.
Casey mentioned $13 billion was earmarked for Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges, including flood wall projects in Pittsburgh.
Progress for key provisions in the Senate’s initial fiscal year 2024 funding bills was reported on Casey’s website, with provisions covering various issues, including more than $172 million for Pennsylvania community projects.
Casey highlighted that the infrastructure bill funds the replacement of aging lead service lines in Pennsylvania’s water system. “In Pittsburgh, over $30 million is allocated, impacting 4,900 homes and businesses,” said Casey.
Casey also emphasized that the bill allocates substantial funding for internet connectivity improvements across Pennsylvania, particularly in rural areas lacking access. This investment in high-speed internet is expected to be significantly transformative, resolving urban dead spots too.
