Richie Neal: Achieving Results for 1st Congressional District

188

TL/DR –

Richie Neal, congressman for Massachusetts’s 1st Congressional District, has been lauded for his positive impact on the region by Easthampton’s mayor, Nicole LaChapelle. She cites Neal’s delivery of over $1.2 billion in Paycheck Protection Program funding that benefited local businesses during COVID, and his contribution to the American Rescue Plan, providing stimulus checks for working families. In addition, Neal helped author laws which brought over $400 million to western Massachusetts for infrastructure and climate resilience projects, and has been a leading advocate in Congress for preserving and protecting Social Security.

In times of misinformation, facts should matter most, particularly regarding our elections. For Massachusetts’s 1st Congressional District, it is undeniable that our Congressman, Richie Neal, delivers results and resources.

As Easthampton’s mayor since 2018, I’ve seen first-hand how Richie’s representation in Washington benefits our community and region. Despite Easthampton being one of 83 cities and towns in the largest geographic district in Massachusetts, Richie is consistently present and responsive. From day one, he set a standard for accessibility, pledging to address our community needs.

Richie has fulfilled his promises, fiercely advocating for us throughout. He secured over $1.2 billion in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding to aid more than 10,000 western Massachusetts businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he crafted the American Rescue Plan, providing stimulus checks to working families when they needed it most.

Richie also procured over $400 million for western Massachusetts through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, which led to improvements in our infrastructure and increased climate resilience. This included funds for Route 10 in Easthampton.

Furthermore, he secured over $100 million for west-east rail that enhances connectivity from western Massachusetts to Boston, and additional millions for increased rail service linking western Massachusetts to New Haven with stops in Holyoke, Northampton, Greenfield, and Springfield.

Richie has allocated over $260 million for a new Veterans’ Home in Holyoke, allowing western Massachusetts veterans to live and receive care in a top-notch facility. He has directed nearly $43 million in community project funding to western Massachusetts communities, including close to $1 million for water infrastructure upgrades in Easthampton.

But it isn’t just funding; Richie knows good policy changes lives. He grew up reliant on Social Security Survivor’s Benefits and became Congress’s leading advocate for preserving and protecting Social Security. He co-authored the Affordable Care Act, expanding healthcare for 50 million people. Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, Richie has been fighting to restore access to abortion.

Having Richie represent us ensures we receive more than our due, as he stays true to his roots. This is factual, not merely an opinion. I urge you to vote to reelect Richie Neal, so he can continue his relentless advocacy and delivery for our community.
