Trump EPA Halts Funding for Pelosi, Omar’s Climate Initiatives
TL/DR –
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has canceled two multimillion-dollar environmental justice grants that were secured weeks before President Donald Trump took office by Democratic Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Ilhan Omar. Pelosi helped to secure a $20 million grant for six green transportation projects in San Francisco, and Omar was involved in securing a $10 million grant for the creation of solar panels and energy efficiency upgrades in Minnesota. These are among over 400 environmental justice grants that the EPA has recently canceled as part of an effort to curb spending.
Action to Curb EPA’s DOGE-Backed Environmental Justice Spending

The EPA has withdrawn two significant environmental justice grants secured by Democratic Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Ilhan Omar, just weeks before President Donald Trump assumed office.
Pelosi facilitated a $20 million grant for six green transportation projects in San Francisco, including an electric bus purchase and a bike-share program creation. Omar helped secure a $10 million grant for solar panel construction and energy efficiency upgrades at the Minneapolis American Indian Center.
These grants, along with 400 other environmental justice and DEI-related grants, have been canceled by EPA administrator Lee Zeldin in recent weeks as part of an effort to reduce spending. The Trump administration’s EPA has reclaimed over $1.7 billion distributed by the Biden administration and ended eight $20 billion grants for a green bank program.
Representatives for Pelosi, Omar, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, the Minneapolis American Indian Center, and the Sabathani Community Center did not provide comments.
The Biden EPA had selected these now-canceled projects for funding. These initiatives were among the 105 projects the EPA chose to fund under the $2 billion Climate Justice Community Change Program.
Zeldin’s spending cuts have also influenced other grants from the Climate Justice Community Change Program and those from programs such as the Environmental Justice Small Grants Program and the Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program.
The Free Beacon reported that the Trump EPA previously cancelled grants from the Climate Justice Community Change Program given to groups led by Biden administration environmental advisors.
