Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts Announces 2023–24 Dance Series
Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ 2023–24 dance series will feature performances by Los Angeles-based Jacob Jones The Company, the comedic Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo, the storytelling of Gibney Company and the dynamic Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
Senior programming manager Diandra Adamczyk expressed excitement over the return of Jacob Jonas The Company, and the opportunity to host Gibney Company’s Arizona debut and to welcome back Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. She also highlighted numerous engagement opportunities for dance enthusiasts throughout the season.
Kicking off the season on Nov. 17 is Jacob Jones The Company, known for its intersection of dance across mediums. The company will also host a virtual conversation about their recent film work, “Films.Dance,” with a screening on Oct. 5.
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo
Following the Jacob Jonas The Company performance, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago will present two performances on Feb. 1 and 2, 2024. Known as creative forces in contemporary dance, Hubbard Street has performed internationally in 19 countries and 44 U.S. states.
Les Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo, an internationally renowned troupe of male dancers, will continue the dance series with a performance on Feb. 17, 2024. This group is well-known for using pointe work to parody classical ballet. There will be an opportunity to learn about the company’s history during a panel discussion before the performance.
Performances by MOMIX and Gibney Company
MOMIX will take the stage on March 3, 2024, with their newest show inspired by “Alice in Wonderland.” The show promises a mind-bending adventure with Alice encountering various characters from the classic tale.
The dance series will conclude with a performance by Gibney Company on March 16, 2024. The company will also host a virtual talk with its artistic director and director on Feb. 26, 2024, followed by a movement workshop on March 15, 2024.
