The first shooting, as relayed by an Albuquerque police spokesperson, occurred just after 1 a.m. on the 500 block of San Pedro Drive N.E. Responding officers discovered a man with at least one gunshot wound, who was declared dead at the scene.
Second Shooting in Downtown Albuquerque
Another shooting happened around 3 a.m. in downtown Albuquerque, near the 600 block of Copper Avenue N.W. Officers found a male victim who succumbed to his injuries. Police are urging anyone with information about this shooting to contact them at (505) 242-COPS.
Suspect Arrested in Connection with One of the Shootings
Theodore Toney, 45, was arrested on Saturday afternoon for the fatal shooting of Kenneth Ellis at a San Pedro Drive NE social club, according to an Albuquerque Police Department news release. Police investigation revealed Ellis had been a witness in a trial where a relative of Toney’s was convicted of murder. Toney, now charged with an open count of murder and firearm enhancement, is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
