The American Chamber of Commerce in Libya (AmCham Libya) organized its inaugural U.S. Company Healthcare Workshop, titled “Bringing world-class healthcare to Libyans.” The two-day event, held from January 27 to 28 at a leading hotel in Tripoli, featured some of the globally renowned healthcare companies.
Spotlight on World-Class U.S. Healthcare Products and Services
The workshop aimed at showcasing the exceptional goods and services offered by attending U.S. healthcare companies and facilitating their engagement with crucial Libyan government figures. Leading U.S. healthcare companies like Abbott, AbbVie, GE Healthcare, IQVIA, Medtronic, MSD, and Pfizer participated, giving presentations on numerous topics.
Addressing Payment Challenges in Libya
One of the key issues tackled during the workshop was the payment-related challenges faced by U.S. healthcare companies operating in Libya. The workshop served as a platform for key stakeholders to identify these challenges and initiate discussions on possible solutions.

The U.S. Embassy participated in the workshop, represented by Mike LaRocque, the Embassy Commercial and Economic Officer. A concurrent virtual event supported by AmCham Libya and organized by the U.S. Department of State showcased Libya’s health sector for the first time via the U.S. State Department Direct Line program. This program accentuates commercial programs of global interest and conveyed U.S. Government’s encouragement for U.S. companies to engage more in Libya’s healthcare sector.
