ASU’s Tempe Campus Switches to Remote Classes due to Flooding

A flood at Arizona State University‘s Tempe campus transitioned the institution to remote learning, as conveyed by university officials. The flooding, which occurred early Sunday morning, affected the Central Plant facility of the campus.

Impact of the Flooding on Campus Facilities

The Central Plant facility, a crucial aspect of the campus infrastructure, houses vital pumps that distribute cool water for air conditioning systems across campus buildings. The flood disrupted these systems, prompting quick action from the university to repair the issue.

“Technicians are actively resolving the issue to ensure optimal cooling for key buildings until all the pumps are fully operational,” an ASU spokesperson said.

Continuation of Classes and Affected Buildings

Until further notice, classes will be conducted remotely. This change comes after the commencement of ‘Session A’ of their summer classes last Thursday. The session is scheduled to run till June 26th. Buildings unaffected by the flood include the University Services, Fulton Center, and University Center A,B,C, along with ASU Police.

Campus Staff and Operations

ASU insists that all employees whose presence is fundamental for university operations continue work on campus.
