Cigna to Terminate Contract with Norton Healthcare, Care Now Out-of-Network

Cigna Healthcare Ends Contract with Norton Healthcare

Norton Healthcare announced that its contract with major insurance provider Cigna Healthcare will terminate on September 8. Despite this, Norton will still cater to patients covered by this provider, though services will be treated as out-of-network.

According to a recent letter, Norton stated that Cigna ended the contract despite Norton’s efforts to negotiate fair reimbursements to provide quality healthcare.

Norton is currently coordinating with Cigna Healthcare to determine the next steps for patients receiving oncology, pediatric, and prenatal care. A representative from Cigna stated, “Our goal is to maintain Norton Healthcare within our network. We have proposed to extend the existing contract until November 8. Negotiations to reach a fair agreement for our members and their families are ongoing.”
