The festival offers both a walk-through experience on Dec. 2 and 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a drive-through experience for the rest of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to support the Special Olympics of Buncombe County.

The Buncombe County Parks & Recreation is set to host the annual Festival of Lights at Lake Julian Park, promising a breathtaking display of thousands of holiday lights from Dec. 2 to Dec. 23. This mountain family tradition transforms the park into a magical wonderland filled with sparkling lights, and part of the event’s proceeds will support the Special Olympics of Buncombe County.

Experiences at the Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights presents two different experiences: a walk-through on Dec. 2 and 3 (6-8 p.m. each night) featuring holiday crafts, kettlecorn, and hot chocolate in addition to the lights show. Admission is $5 for adults, with children 16 and under free. Parking is available at Charles T. Koontz Intermediate School near Lake Julian Park, with ADA accessible parking in the park.

From 6 to 9 p.m. for the rest of December, guests can enjoy a drive-through experience from the comfort of their vehicles while listening to seasonal music. Admission costs range from $10 for personal vehicles to $50 for buses and motor coaches.
