Improving Patient Outcomes: United Health Action in Asia, MEA
TL/DR –
The Alliance & Partnerships for Patient Innovation & Solutions (APPIS) Summit 2024, sponsored by Novartis, will take place in March and aims to address barriers to healthcare access for patients in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. Since its inception in 2021, the APPIS platform has brought together over 2,000 individuals from various sectors to facilitate knowledge-sharing and innovative solutions for patient access to healthcare. This year’s Summit will feature over 40 expert healthcare speakers, and will run alongside the APPIS Innovator Program and APPISx, initiatives aimed to drive positive patient impact throughout the year.
The 4th Annual APPIS Summit Focuses on Critical Health Topics
Since its inception in 2021, the Alliance & Partnerships for Patient Innovation & Solutions (APPIS) platform has united over 2,000 participants from 65+ countries to address the challenges in healthcare access. The upcoming APPIS Summit 2024 is set to feature over 40 healthcare experts addressing vital topics such as health literacy, health policy formation, and future readiness.
On March 19 and 20, 2024, the APPIS Summit, co-hosted by the APPIS 2024 Council and Novartis, will convene to tackle patient access barriers in Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa. The summit also caters to the year-round APPIS Innovator Program and APPISx, key APPIS components that bring together healthcare stakeholders to effect positive changes for patients.
APPIS Summit 2024: Fostering Meaningful Partnerships
This year’s Summit will feature healthcare experts, patient leaders, policymakers, and health journalists, focusing on health literacy, policy shaping, and future readiness. Rod Padua, President of Touched By Max and Strategic Advisor of APPIS 2024, emphasizes the importance of collective efforts in addressing diverse and complex healthcare challenges in the region.
Since 2021, APPIS has brought together patient organizations, policymakers, physicians, and academics to facilitate partnerships on patient innovation and solutions. The virtual APPIS Summit paves the way for the APPIS Innovator Program, APPISx, and the online APPIS Resource Center to take place region-wide.
APPIS Innovator Program and APPISx
The APPIS Innovator Program, launched in 2022, supports patient organizations in scaling their innovative solutions. Every year, a panel of patient leaders and healthcare experts assess the impact, innovation, potential to scale, fit to category, and progression of solutions. This year’s APPIS Innovator Program will accept submissions from March 20 to April 5, with winners announced in June 2024.
APPISx enables country-level engagements by bringing together patient organizations and healthcare stakeholders to catalyze solutions that address healthcare barriers. Noteworthy achievements include APPISx India’s establishment of the country’s first cardiovascular patient organization and APPISx Philippines’ submission of the National Psoriasis Care Bill to Congress. In 2024, 16 APPISx sessions will be held across the region, building on the 11 sessions conducted last year.
