TL/DR –

The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy is launching a new project and is inviting the public to help plant 250 fruit trees on April 12. The trees will be part of a food forest, which is the second agroforestry project the farm started in two years, following the 2023 Silvopasture Project that used trees to improve carbon sequestration and land health. The project will include 12 varieties of apple trees and plans for a U-pick orchard and community food programs.

Join Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy’s Exciting New Agroforestry Project

Ready to get involved? The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy invites you to participate in their Community Farm Volunteer Workday on April 12.

Your help is needed to plant 250 fruit trees in their new food forest. This is the trust’s second agroforestry initiative within two years, following the 2023 Silvopasture Project that successfully integrated trees into agriculture to boost carbon sequestration and land health.

Get ready to plant twelve apple tree varieties. In future years, anticipate witnessing your efforts bear fruit in a U-pick orchard and community food initiatives.

Make sure to register by 12 p.m. on April 11. If you can’t attend, you can still support the conservation mission at upcoming events.
