Community Comes Together to Support Wish-Granting Initiative for Critically Ill Children
A local cycling group in Grand Rapids, Michigan is encouraging community members to join them in granting wishes for children battling critical illnesses.
The Workout for Wishes event will take place at CityFlats Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids on Monday, March 11.
Attendees can join a free community workout session, led by The Barre Code, featuring cardio, stretching, and mindfulness exercises.
“It’s truly incredible to see the power of community coming together to grant these wishes and support families with critically ill children,” said Lauren Froman, one of the event organizers.
Froman, together with Mackenzie Miller, are members of a cycling team participating in the 37th annual Wish-A-Mile cycling tour – a fundraising event for Make-A-Wish Michigan.
This year, their goal is to grant 10 wishes, costing roughly $10,000 each.
Wishes can range from helping families cover the cost of their child’s treatments, to room renovations, and family trips. “The struggles these kids endure on a daily basis is far greater than any physical workout,” emphasized Froman.
The event will commence at 5:30 p.m. and will also feature local vendors and a chance for participants to mingle. While the event is free, a suggested donation of $10 is encouraged to support their cause, but any amount is appreciated.
“It’s an event open to all ages and genders, with a variety of activities for everyone,” added Froman.
Attendees are asked to bring their own yoga mat. For information on reserving a spot, click here.
