Concetta B. Maki, Avid Baker, and Devout Christian Passes Away at 94

Concetta B. “Chetty” Maki, 94, entered eternal life on October 7, 2023, at her home in Ishpeming, MI, under hospice care and surrounded by loved ones.

Chetty was known for her baking skills, making delectable coffee cakes, dinner rolls, and cookies. She was a fervent Detroit Tigers fan and a regular at the Senior Center, cherishing the fellowship with her friends. Her strong faith influenced her life and love for her family.

She is survived by her children Kathy (Michael) Manga, Joanne (Roger) Bergman and Mary (Dennis) Yelle, her grandchildren Chelsee (Josh) Bal, Jenna (Dan) Hendrickson, Ashley (Brad) Cornelius and Caitlin (Matt) Flis, and her great-grandchildren Easton and Emma Bal, Ivy Hendrickson, Noah, Stella, Ava Cornelius, Charlotte, and Dominic Flis. Predeceased by her husband Eino Maki, parents Peter and Rose Frustaglio, siblings Phillip, Peter, Dominic, Anthony, Katherine Sarras, Mary George, Stella Poirier, and Theresa Carlson, she is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Superior care was provided by Dr. Shawna Gleason and Lake Superior Hospice, for which the family is deeply grateful.

Family and friends are invited to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 325 S. Pine St., Ishpeming, on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be said prior to the Mass at noon. Fellowship to follow the Mass at K/D Hall.
