An arrest has been made in the murder case of Maryland mother, Rachel Morin. Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, a 23-year-old undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s office.

The charges against Hernandez include first-degree murder and first-degree rape. Hernandez had illegally entered the U.S. in February 2023, after allegedly murdering another young woman in El Salvador a month prior.

Interpol had issued a warrant for Hernandez’s arrest for the homicide in El Salvador. Additionally, he has known connections in Virginia, Prince George’s County, and ties to known gangs. Hernandez is currently awaiting extradition to Maryland, which could take up to 60 days.

Rachel Morin was found murdered along the Ma & Pa Trail last August. Authorities believe the suspect hid in a drainage culvert and attacked Morin while she was walking. The attack has been linked to an assault and home invasion in Los Angeles, California, that took place in March 26.

Following her death, Morin’s family released a commercial plea for justice in her case.
