Arise Bakery and Café Grand Opening

The grand opening of Arise Bakery and Café took place on Friday, November 17. Starting from 7am, the café began serving a wide range of beverages, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and pastries to patrons. Their lunch offerings also include soups, salads, and sandwiches for dine-in or take-out.

Owners Rose Richards and Andrea Cocciolone greeted customers, marking the realization of the bakery venture they started planning earlier this year. Arise Bakery and Café is conveniently located at 972 E. Michigan Avenue, the former site of Matty J’s Café.

With a passion for coffee, Richards said, “We appreciate good coffee. That’s why we picked Hyperion, it’s our favorite.” Cocciolone, a baking enthusiast, is excited to share her pastries with customers.

Local Ingredients and Dedicated Staff

Richards and Cocciolone are committed to sourcing their ingredients locally. “We’re serving high-quality products like Boar’s Head meats, Calder Dairy, and Hyperion coffee,” said Richards. Local bakeries like Rich Grains in Milan and Grand River Bakery in Manchester Market supply the bread.

Saline graduates, Amie Farrell and Maggie Lupton worked behind the counter as baristas during the grand opening. Customers, like Rebecca Perez, were attracted by social media posts about the bakery’s delicious offerings. Another local resident, Tom Head, came to support his friend, Rose Richards, the café’s co-owner.
