Nikki Haley’s Spokesperson Claps Back at Kari Lake’s Criticism

TL/DR –

Kari Lake, a Republican Senate candidate, ignited a social media feud by making fun of Nikki Haley, a former GOP primary rival to ex-President Donald Trump. Haley’s campaign communications director, Nachama Soloveichik, responded with “no peace, b—-,” a phrase previously used by Meghan McCain against Lake. Lake’s likely Democratic opponent in the Senate race, Rep. Ruben Gallego, called Lake “divisive” and “extreme,” while others saw it as another attempt by Lake to alienate more moderate elements of the Republican Party.

Senate Candidate Kari Lake Faces Backlash Over Remarks

Senate candidate Kari Lake faced backlash for her remarks, most notably the phrase “No peace, b—-!” previously used by Meghan McCain. The Republican contender for retiring Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s seat sparked a social media confrontation with this statement.

As a Trump-endorsed loyalist, Lake claimed on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, that former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley was suspending her campaign after Super Tuesday losses. Lake referred to Haley by her misspelled first name, “Nimarata,” sparking accusations of racism. Haley’s parents were immigrants from India, and Trump had previously attempted to mock Haley’s name.

Haley’s campaign communications director, Nachama Soloveichik, responded with “no peace, b—-,” mirroring the phrase McCain used to reject Lake’s attempt to mend ties with her late father’s family. McCain had dismissed Lake’s claims that her previous attacks on her father were in jest.

McCain endorsed Soloveichik’s response, while Robert P. George, a Princeton University professor, defended Haley’s first name, criticizing Lake for using it prejudicially.

Others also criticized Lake’s comment as another instance of her alienating moderate Republicans. Lake’s likely Democratic opponent in the Senate race, Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., joined the conversation on social media, calling Lake “divisive” and “extreme.”

Gallego wrote, “This is who Kari Lake is. We … need everyone on board to defeat Kari Lake’s extremism.” He invited Haley supporters to join his campaign.

Meanwhile, McCain expressed her disappointment at Sinema’s decision to not run for reelection and praised her contributions.

Lake, however, did not back off her past attacks on John McCain, despite claiming it was a joke, stating “there’s no politician on Capitol Hill, past, present, or future, that should be free from scrutiny.”
