TL/DR –

Raad Almansoori, 26, has been arrested by the Scottsdale police and charged with armed robbery, attempted murder, aggravated assault and theft related to two stabbing incidents in the Phoenix area. Almansoori confessed to these stabbings, in addition to the murder of a woman in a New York City hotel, and intended to continue his violent spree. A dispute has arisen between Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg over the extradition of Almansoori to New York, as Mitchell fears that the treatment of violent criminals by Bragg could result in the suspect’s release.

Aspiring Serial Killer Raad Almansoori Nabbed by Police after Stabbing Spree

Police Chiefs from various Valley law enforcement agencies detailed how Raad Almansoori, an aspiring serial killer, was apprehended after two stabbings over the weekend, including a young woman at a McDonald’s. Almansoori, 26, was planning to continue his crime spree at Scottsdale Fashion Square, but Scottsdale police officers located and arrested him in a parking deck there.

Details of the Crime Spree

Police revealed that Almansoori confessed to a stabbing in Surprise and Phoenix over the weekend, both victims survived. Additionally, Almansoori confessed to a high-profile murder of a woman in a New York City hotel on Feb. 8. His arrest was, without doubt, a move that stopped his “path of destruction,” according to Surprise police Chief Benny Piña.

Investigation and Arrest

Almansoori stabbed a woman multiple times in a McDonald’s restroom before allegedly stealing a vehicle which police later identified through its license plate. Scottsdale police, using automated license plate readers, located the vehicle and consequently found Almansoori at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Victims’ Ordeals

Court records reveal that Almansoori’s violent spree included random acts of extreme violence. The Phoenix incident occurred near a Starbucks, and surveillance footage showed Almansoori stabbing a female shift supervisor multiple times in her parked vehicle. In the incident at McDonald’s, Almansoori followed a female employee to the restroom, allegedly pointed a gun at her, and stabbed her thrice in the neck.

Possible Link to Murder in NYC

An interview with the New York Daily News reveals that Almansoori is a suspect in the murder of Denisse Oleas-Arancibia, 38, in a SoHo 54 Hotel room in Lower Manhattan. The New York Times reported that the NYPD plans to extradite Almansoori from Arizona.

Social Media Feud over Extradition Request

However, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said her office won’t allow Almansoori’s extradition to New York, triggering a social media feud with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The feud included Bragg criticizing Mitchell for politicizing a murder investigation with Mitchell retorting in defense of her stance. Almansoori is currently held without bail, charged with armed robbery, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and theft.
