A New Delhi Man Loses Rs 12 Lakh in Fake Insurance Scam

A man in New Delhi fell prey to a significant insurance scam, costing him over Rs 12 lakh. The scammers falsely claimed that his deceased father held an insurance policy worth Rs 16 lakh, insisting on an upfront payment for its release.

The victim, from Uttam Nagar, received a call concerning his father’s supposed insurance policy. The caller explained the policy’s funds could only be accessed after paying release charges. Unaware of any such policy, the victim was tricked into making multiple payments for reasons such as GST, customer ID creation, and maintenance charges.

The victim received counterfeit documents of fund release. However, he grew suspicious and visited the supposed company’s office in Daryaganj, only to discover that the documents were forged. A police investigation is underway.
