Wake Tech held an International Day celebration where students from 37 different countries shared their cultures through history, photos, artifacts, food, and performances. The event was planned by the International Friends Club and Student Activities to promote respect and understanding of all cultures, a tradition the college has held for over 20 years. Wake Tech currently has international students from 134 countries.


Wake Tech Hosts International Day Celebration for Global Student Body

Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina, marked International Day with a grand celebration at its Southern Wake Campus on November 3, 2023. The event was a multicultural showcase featuring students from 37 different countries.

The participants shared their heritage through history, images, artifacts, cuisine, and performances, thereby enhancing the campus’s understanding of diverse cultures beyond the U.S. With international students from 134 countries enrolled this semester, Wake Tech is a truly global educational institution.

Students, like Jennifer Perez, an accounting student from Columbia, used this platform to dispel common misconceptions about their homelands. Perez highlighted the beauty of her country, known for its emeralds and coffee, and enjoyed the opportunity to learn about other cultures.

Similarly, Amarachi Aniche, a dental hygiene student from Nigeria, displayed her unique, colorful fashion designs made with vibrant African prints. She expressed her passion for her African culture and appreciated the warm acceptance it receives in America.

Organized by the International Friends Club and Student Activities, International Day has been a cherished tradition at Wake Tech for over two decades. It aims to foster respect and understanding of all cultures in the college community.
