Bryan Litwin, Kentwood Police Chief, commented, “We’re eager to serve our community by collecting donations for the Little Free Pantry. We hope to brighten the season for those in need, and this friendly competition adds a fun element to our initiative.”

Donation items, which can include canned goods, cereal, pasta, soup, feminine products, laundry detergent, toys and games, can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Kentwood Police Department, 4742 Walma Ave. SE
  • Fire Station 1, 4775 Walma Ave. SE

  • Fire Station 3, 5340 Eastern Ave. SE

Moreover, the departments are partnering with Sam’s Club on Dec. 16, inviting the public to drop off non-perishable food and personal care items in the service vehicle trunk of their choice.

Highlighting the importance of giving back, Kentwood Fire Chief Brent Looman said, “This is a new facet of our essential community support. The Little Free Pantry is vital for many residents, and we’re grateful to join forces with the police department in this fun contest to help replenish it.”

Established in 2017 as a Martin Luther King Jr. Day community service project, the Little Free Pantry operates year-round at the Kentwood Activities Center and the Kent District Library. For more information, visit the kentwood.us.LittleFreePantry.
