A deadly crash involving a Tesla vehicle on Saturday morning in Pasadena has resulted in three fatalities and three others hospitalized. The incident took place around 2:30 a.m. near Sierra Madre on Foothill Boulevard and Vista Street.
Pasadena Police report that the Tesla, carrying six passengers, sped through a red light, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle hit a curb and crashed into a building, killing three occupants and injuring others between the ages of 17 and 22.
Among those involved in the tragic Tesla crash were students from Maranatha High School, according to school officials. The school expressed deep sorrow and issued a call for prayers for those affected.
“We mourn this immense loss… During this difficult time, we turn to our faith in Christ Jesus for comfort and strength and ask others to join us in praying for all who are suffering due to this tragedy,” the school officials said.
The extensive damage from the crash caused power outages in the area. Lieutenant Anthony Russo of the Pasadena Police shared the crash details, while utility workers restored power.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash, including whether the driver was impaired. They’re reviewing footage from the Tesla’s cameras. The victims’ identities have yet to be released pending family notification.
