TL/DR –

Vivek Ramaswamy, a 39-year-old biotechnology entrepreneur and previous GOP presidential candidate, urged Arizonans to support U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake and former President Donald Trump in transforming Washington. Ramaswamy, speaking to a young crowd of around 200 at a “Sun Devils Vote” event, likened the 2024 election to the nation’s founding in 1776, stating that their generation will save the country. He referred to America as a “nation in decline” but insisted it doesn’t have to stay that way and that it will take an “epidemic of courage” to save the country.

Former Trump Campaigns in Arizona: Vivek Ramaswamy and Kari Lake Rally Younger Voters

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and US Senate candidate Kari Lake rallied in Arizona, drawing in younger supporters. Ramaswamy, a biotechnology entrepreneur, likened the 2024 election to the nation’s founding in 1776 at a “Sun Devils Vote” event in Tempe.

“2024 is our 1776. I see a lot of young people here. It’s your generation that’s going to save this country,” he addressed a crowd of about 200, half of whom appeared to be college-aged.

America is “a nation in decline,” Ramaswamy said. “But it does not have to stay that way. If you want to save this country, it’s going to take not just fear. It’s going to take an epidemic of courage, especially in Washington, D.C., and that’s the kind of leader Kari Lake is going to be.”

Both Lake and Trump have been making efforts to reach younger voters, including those in Tempe, home of Arizona State University.

In 2020, registered Democrats under 25 in Tempe outnumbered registered Republicans that age almost 3 to 1. However, around 6,000 young voters in Tempe, or 38% of them, didn’t cast ballots that year.

Amanda Maurer, a sophomore at ASU who is part of the College Republicans, attended the rally with several friends. She cited the “huge turnout” for a recent Turning Point Action event with Charlie Kirk that suggests no shortage of young conservatives.

Isaac Glover, a 20-year-old Peoria resident, was among those on hand Friday to see Lake and Ramaswamy. Glover is a familiar Lake supporter who said he is pictured in her book “Unafraid: Just Getting Started.”

During her speech, Lake emphasized on issues like a porous border allowing an influx of fentanyl and her insistence on election fraud. She also promised mass deportations beginning in January 2025, a statement that resonated with younger voters in the crowd.

“We’re the most compassionate people in the world here in America,” Lake said, “but in order to save our homeland and our loved ones, we’ve got to send people who invaded our country back to their homeland and back to their loved ones.”
