In Wake County, N.C., a man is facing murder charges following the discovery of a woman’s body in a tent. Wake County sheriff’s deputies responded to a drug overdose call on the 7100 block of Fayetteville Road.
Upon arrival, deputies found 50-year-old Dorothy Smith unresponsive inside of a tent. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reports suggest Smith engaged in a dispute with her boyfriend, 57-year-old Joe Anthony Jr. earlier in the day. Consequently, Anthony was arrested and charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Further investigation led to Anthony being charged with murder following a consultation with the County District Attorney’s Office.
Currently, Anthony is being held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond.
Cary police are also searching for 2 men linked to 12 break-ins.
